About

We are a horizontal collective of information professionals and educators who are interested in preserving evidence of activism, particularly archives created by members of the Occupy movement in New York City (Occupy Wall Street).  None of us get paid for the work we do and we are not affiliated with any organizations for the purposes of our work with the archives working group.

The working group has dedicated a lot of time and effort to preserve physical archives created by Occupiers first in Zuccotti Park, then in subsequent contexts.  Additionally a small number of us specializing in digital information have planned and led the early implementation stages of an independent digital archive.

We work with archives coming out of OWS because we find the work and the movement compelling.  There are a lot of great ideas in the group and we get good suggestions but we all have jobs, families, creative projects and other things going on so what we get done sometimes is in baby steps.  We’ll keep you posted on this site about what we are up to and how you can get involved!
